One work, one book

Joan Miro
Joan Miro
Catalogue of an exhibition Miro to the Museum of Modern art of the town of Villeneuve d' Ascq in 1986. It is a very complete book because it shows all the techniques in which Miro carried out works its life during, paintings and works on paper, prints, illustrated book and sculptures. For the prints one learns there that Miro starts to engrave after a visit at Petiet, and under the councils of Marcoussis. It is for him a revelation to be able to enrich its mode of expression by multiplying the possibilities that offers this technique. This freedom and this invention in the processes, Miro will cultivate it later in contact with Stanley William Hayter, creating with this brilliant inventor a new method of etchings with several colors according to a single copperplate and with only one passage to the press. Many artists became better in contact with Hayter and Miro will also benefit from the crossing of these influences. Miro will work after very regularly with the printer Robert Dutrou, met at Roger Lacourière workshop.
The lithography took also an important place in the work of Miro, this catalogue points out it; after a first test in 1930 for the illustration of "L'Arbre des voyageurs" of Tzara, Miro carries out a few years later 77 lithographs for "Parler seul" also from Tzara, lithographs carried out at the printer Fernand Mourlot workshop. Thereafter, Miro will work more readily with Arte printing workshop, directed by Adrien Maeght.
